Recycling in Bewerley Parish
On average each home in the Harrogate district produces one tonne of rubbish each year-and it's increasing. Most of this rubbish is buried in a landfill site and as it breaks down it releases substances that are harmful to the environment. The government wants to reduce the use of landfill sites and has set tough targets for councils to meet to save the environment and our natural resources. Harrogate district have reached the government target for 2005/06 of 21% but still need to improve further on this result.
