NYCC Highways department has circulated the following information.

26th January 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

Red Brae Bank, Bewerley

I am writing to inform you of landslip repairs, carriageway resurfacing, and fencing works which are to be carried out along the B6265 (Red Brae Bank, near Bewerley). The works are due to start on 16th February 2009 and will last approximately 8 weeks, subject to weather conditions or other urgent programme changes.

A temporary road closure will be in place to protect the travelling public and to allow the work to be done in safety. Vehicles will not be able to drive through the works area. Whilst the closure is in place a diversion route will be signed along the B6265, Duck Street Lane, Sandy Gate, Menwith Hill Road, the B6451, the B6165, and the B6265 for all vehicles. Pedestrians can be escorted through the works as required. The road will remain closed overnight and at the weekends for the duration of the works for safety reasons.

Access to local properties and businesses within the works area will be maintained where possible and any special access requirements can be pre-arranged with the contractors, Balfour Beatty. Their Works Manager, Robert Milburn can be contacted on 07966 895669.

I understand that the works may cause some inconvenience which we will aim to minimise. However, if there are any urgent queries please contact me at the address below.

Yours sincerely,

Eric Jaquin,
Engineer, Highways North Yorkshire.
