Who to contact for more information

The best way to find out what it's like to be a parish councillor is to talk to someone who is doing it now. Go along to a parish council meeting, speak to one of the councillors and find out what they think of the job.  Contact details for all current parish councillors, as well as dates and times of parish council meetings are available on this website.

If you are considering becoming a candidate for election to the Parish Council there are two things you need to do: get yourself nominated and get voted in at the election - the first much easier than the second!

You are strongly recommended to contact the returning officer at Harrogate District Council to obtain information on what you need to do to be nominated.  All District councils produce leaflets on election procedures.  It is imperative that these are followed or you may find that you have disqualified yourself from candidacy.
